A chill wind rustled the loose shingles on the roof of the dilapitated shack. The old, softened wooden frame creaked wearily and rocked a little. A small robin that had stopped for a rest on the ladder that led up to the unstable loft floor chirped rapidly and took off in a flurry of feathers.
Somewhere in the darkening distance, a hawk shrieked. The wind began to die down and gust back up and irregular intervals. Still, the old shack stood alone in the woods, abandoned and forgotten. |
